When Moulin Rouge® meets the Monnaie de Paris, boldness and French craftsmanship come together in a collection of unique coins. Here, the art of performance intertwines with the art of minting, transforming emotion into material and every moment into a legacy.
Each coin celebrates French artisanal excellence and the work of exceptional craftsmen. At the Moulin Rouge, four Art Houses collaborate daily to bring the magic of the stage to life:
- Mine Vergès Costume Creation Workshop: orchestrates the world of costume design, creating spectacular pieces.
- Maison Clairvoy: bespoke shoemakers, accompanying every step of the performers with elegance.
- Maison Février: master feather artisans, enhancing the movement and brilliance of costumes with lightness and finesse.
- Atelier Valentin: embroidery specialists, making costumes and performers sparkle with pearls, sequins, and shimmering threads.
Drawing inspiration from this diversity and mastery of the arts, the Monnaie de Paris transforms metal into exceptional coins, each carrying the spirit of the Moulin Rouge and the audacity of French creativity. A jewel box of celebration and craftsmanship, where emotion is both experienced and preserved, at the crossroads of stage and workshop.
What craftsmanship treasures lie within this collection?
The collection brings together five exceptional coins, two in gold and three in silver, each embodying the vibrant, spectacular spirit of the Moulin Rouge. Every creation is hand-struck, capturing the boldness, movement, and light that define the cabaret’s signature.
On the obverse, cancan dancers stand out against the iconic Moulin Rouge façade, while the structure of the windmill’s sails forms the background, adding depth and a sense of lightness to the scene frozen in metal.
The reverse pays tribute to the effervescence of celebration. A champagne glass with delicately engraved bubbles, airy feathers, pleated fabrics, embroidery, pearls, and sequins intertwine in a subtle interplay of textures and reliefs. Each coin thus nods to the Moulin Rouge’s Art Houses, where costume and accessories come to life under the precise hands of exceptional artisans.
