About Moulin Rouge rights

In general, any unauthorized reproduction or representation of trademarks, logos, designs, models, literary, musical, audiovisual or photographic works, and more generally any element likely to be protected by an intellectual property right accessible on a website, is prohibited and would constitute an infringement within the meaning of articles L335-2 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code, unless such reproduction or representation is reserved exclusively for strictly personal and private use.

 

·         Is “Moulin Rouge” a protected trademark?

Yes, “MOULIN ROUGE®” is a registered trademark in numerous products and services classes with the INPI (Institut National de la Propriété Intellectuelle), the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation).

In addition to its word trademark, Moulin Rouge owns and operates a number of other brands, including logos.

 

·         May I use the name and/or image of the Moulin Rouge to promote or market my products and/or services?

Moulin Rouge is the owner of numerous trademarks, including logos and in particular the word mark “Moulin Rouge®”, which means that any use of the name “Moulin Rouge” or said logos cannot be made without the prior authorization of Moulin Rouge.

This implies that any use of these elements, including the image of its famous façade, cannot be made without the prior authorization of Moulin Rouge.

 

·         Can I produce a show or other entertainment, musical or otherwise, based on the Moulin Rouge?

Any use of the rights held by Moulin Rouge, including the image of its famous façade, cannot be made without the prior authorization of Moulin Rouge, under penalty of legal proceedings. The same applies to events and entertainment.

 

·         Can I use a photo of the Moulin Rouge in connection with my work?

Moulin Rouge holds a number of rights to its façade and sign. These elements may not be used for commercial purposes without the prior authorization of Moulin Rouge, even if the photographer’s copyright is free or regularly negotiated.

 

·         Can I use the music from Moulin Rouge shows, such as the current “Féérie” show? 

The soundtrack of all Moulin Rouge shows, past and present, is reserved for personal, family and private use.

All other rights are reserved. Any distribution, reproduction, commercial or otherwise, even free of charge, whether total or partial, is strictly forbidden and liable to legal action.

 

·         I would like to obtain authorization to use the “Moulin Rouge®” trademark for my project. How do I go about it?
