THE MOULIN ROUGE’S SPORTING SUMMER: A PEEK BEHIND THE SCENES

For a few weeks this summer, Paris transforms into the world’s sporting capital. The Moulin Rouge has been shaping up to mark this Olympic period! And our artists have been giving their all before the starter’s gun has even sounded. Find out the details of their packed programme for July.

How better to get this sporting summer started than to celebrate the procession of the Olympic symbol past the front door of the cabaret itself? On the morning of 15th July, the dancers of the Moulin Rouge lent some extra sparkle to the torch procession by delivering a magical show!

And after a performance like that, there’s no going back! A few hours later, the French rhythmic gymnastics team visited the Moulin Rouge artists. The meeting provided athletes and dancers alike with an opportunity to show off their skills!

Following the performance of the Féerie Revue show, during which the ten gymnasts were able to take a close-up look at the Moulin Rouge’s iconic French Cancan which has inspired their own programme, they were given a behind-the-scenes tour. This time of meeting and sharing offered our Cancan dancers a sneak preview of the programme the athletes will perform before your own eyes – and the eyes of the world – during the Games!

TWO YEARS LATER: RETURN FIXTURE WITH THE

FRENCH RUGBY SEVENS TEAM

In October 2022, the players of France’s rugby sevens team visited the Moulin Rouge to enjoy the Féerie Revue show and meet our artists.

This year, on 17th July, it was time for our dancers to return the visit, travelling to the National Rugby Centre in Marcoussis, where the members of the Olympic team were preparing their bid for gold!

On the agenda for this extraordinary day:

  • – A dance battle to refine their rhythm skills,
  • – An introduction to rugby,
  • – A discussion between the players and dancers about their daily lives as elite athletes.

After all, rugby sevens and dancing are two disciplines with much more in common than you might at first think. Agility, discipline, precision and resilience are essential ingredients for success in this area.

SPORT: AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF THE MAGIC OF THE MOULIN ROUGE

While our dancers are artists, they are also accomplished athletes. Each evening, at the Féerie Revue show, they pull off extraordinary physical exploits that are only possible thanks to intense, relentless training.

Members of the troupe are selected with great care, and must demonstrate their skill and athletic ability through a series of highly demanding auditions

Benoît Caranobe is the perfect embodiment of the proximity between the two worlds.

A bronze medal winner in the individual all-around gymnastics event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he joined the Moulin Rouge in 2014 as an acrobat after having taken a step back from sporting competition.

He now performs on stage during the famous French Cancan, during which he takes a solo.
