We are looking for a Deputy Head of Machinery for a full-time permanent contract, to start as soon as possible.

Your missions

Reporting to the Head of Machinery, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the machinery during the inspection. In this role, your main responsibilities include the following (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Manage a team of around ten staff members and ensure their skills development;
  • Accurately implement and ensure the implementation of the various stages of the machinery to ensure the smooth running of the show (in particular the installation and operation of sets and attractions);
  • Ensure, supervise and verify various maintenance tasks related to the stage (varnishing, marking, etc.) as well as sets, machinery and props involving the various necessary operations (swimming pool, tableaux, etc.), in accordance with the schedule and established procedures;
  • Act as stand-in for the Head of Machinery and the Stage Manager (stage management/control desk) during their absences;
  • Manage the administrative and organisational aspects of the Machinery department (schedules, contract requests, absence management, etc.);
  • Liaise between the team and the administrative departments (HR, payroll, accounts, etc.);
  • Ensure compliance with rules and guidelines set out in contracts, memos, internal regulations, instructions, etc., and in particular with safety guidelines (wearing of PPE, adherence to safety procedures and standards, etc.);
  • Carry out compliance checks and ensure that mandatory reports are updated annually;
  • Report any issues encountered to the line manager.

Your profil

You hold a qualification in the performing arts relevant to the role (stage machinery, sets and props, etc.) and have solid experience in a similar role within the performing arts sector.

 

Welding skills are essential for this role. Furthermore, you are proficient in various techniques related to carpentry, decoration and metalwork (cutting wood, assembling structures, using tools, etc.).

 

You are able to work at height and/or on a cherry picker, and you are familiar with safety standards specific to the performing arts.

 

You have a proven track record in team management and work organisation, and you are proficient in using IT tools (Microsoft Office).

 

A basic working knowledge of English is an advantage.

The role:

Afternoon or evening shifts – 2 consecutive days off – work at weekends and on public holidays.

Location: within the cabaret, 82 Boulevard de Clichy – 75018 Paris.
